A striking panorama of the last century of German history in a house by a lake in the Brandenburg March: a setting for the stories and life journeys of its successive owners and their fates, which are intertwined and shaped by monumental historical events. The residents experience the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich, the war and its end, the GDR, and the period of reunification, all while searching for a home and a place where they belong.

Heimsuchung is a microcosm of German history in which displacement and loss, home and origin, repression and memory coalesce into human and historical dramas.
